Naperville councilwoman has never been accused to taking on challenging issues or supporting controversial positions. She plays it safe, doesn’t want to offend anyone, or explain why she would support an unpopular position.
Her campaign platform looks like this; who could argue with any of the following:
- Keep families safe.
- Keep taxes low.
- Balance the budget.
- Keep Naperville affordable.
- Make sure voices are heard.
- Helping veterans.
- Making government cost-effective.
- Help seniors remain in Naperville.
It’s surprising she didn’t include any of the following positions:
- Be nice to puppies.
- Support clean water.
- Keep children safe.
- Support the family unit.
- Don’t throw rocks at vehicles.
In defense of Gustin, she did have one good suggestion to improve qualifying SECA applicants for funding; enhanced use of advisory committees to assist the council’s process. Yes, it’s safe and probably not controversial, but also potentially helpful and effective.
