A Third Gladiator Enters the Arena

We have a third entrant into the 2025 Naperville City Council race, Naperville Public Library Board President, Ashfaq Syed. Syed will make his second attempt at the dais after coming in at a somewhat humbling 7th place in the 2023 race. Kudos to Ashfaq for not quitting easy.

Ashfaq brings a soft spoken and earnest voice to this next election cycle. He has certainly paid his dues. Ashfaq has been a regular at virtually all things Naperville for many years. He’s hard to not like as he’s is a very friendly, pleasant person. He comes off as nice and sincere.

Naperville residents should take heart, three quality choices are already offered right off the bat. Ashfaq joins incumbent Jennifer Taylor and Planning Board Commissioner Meghna Bansal, as the three declared candidates this cycle. All three seem to be good people and carry very solid track records in the community.

Other incumbents up this cycle have not yet declared if they are running or not. Those three incumbents include Paul Leong, Benny White, and Ian Holzhauer. In fairness, we should expect both White and Holzhauer to run a little slower than the others as both are so severely disabled from their non-combat roles in the military that all of us have been paying the tax bills on their big Naperville homes for many years now.

Whatever the incumbents decide, the 2025  election cycle is off to a good start. Three very solid options are on the table for Naperville voters in 2025. The Watchdog will follow this cycle closely…regular updates are coming!

Please remind us where the CCWD served our country or even our city. Both Benny and Ian served our country honorably and are commited to serving Naperville. Contrast this with Taylor and Leong both who a little after a year being elected chose to seek state office focused on political ambition instead serving the community that elected them.

  2. Joan Murray

Another Gladiator has entered the ring Mary Gibson is running for city council.
