Local Dems Prove Nag’s Point

Not so long ago, former City Council candidate Nag Jaiswal found himself amidst a storm of controversy after posting online that African Americans needed to “unshackle themselves from the Democratic Party”. Local liberals blew up and he was promptly removed from his position on the Naperville Human Rights Commission.

After digging into last night’s election numbers, and also learning that local progressive political activists have again filed a complaint that seeks to remove an African American candidate from the ballot, we have to ask…did Nag have a point?

African American support nearly DOUBLED for President Trump in just one cycle and appears to have hit nearly 20% of the vote this year (with votes still being counted). This turnabout is believed to be triggered in large part to Democratic officials disproportionately directing migrants to African American neighborhoods and schools.

On the local level, local liberals preach DEI and bring up and scream racism incessantly. Sadly their oft stated blovations about equity do not apply to underfunded African American candidates who want to pursue their dream of running for office.

Last cycle local Democrats filed suit to bully Naperville’s first ever African American council candidate, Tiffany Stephens, off the ballot. This cycle local Democrats have filed suit to bully African American council candidate Farid Shabazz from running for office.

Apparently these local Democrats only value equity and the dreams of our African America neighbors when those African Americans march in the same direction as their party. These activists only truly value equity for those African Americans who do what they are told to do. They better not dare deviate from the script that blind allegiance to the Democratic Party is mandatory for their entire race.

Using the courts as a political weapon against those that these complainants know full well don’t have the means to litigate is abusive and yes, does feel a little target against people of color. It’s disgusting. Here’s an idea, let Naperville residents decide if they want these candidates…not the courts. Give these minority candidates a chance to pursue their dreams.

It seemed as though these tactics backfired last cycle. Like many bullies, these local progressive activists give a punch a lot better than they the one. Their candidates were largely pummeled in the last cycle and these ridiculous filings gave plenty of moral cover for those doing the swinging against the more progressive candidates. Benny White bore the brunt of it. Another African American candidate suffering because of a fight that these same liberal activists started.

Nag’s comment was clearly crass. But his point that African Americans might be better served considering another political party has merit, is being realized across America, and you only have to look to how local Democrats treat African Americans candidates to see why.

Dianne McGuire, Nancy Turner and Mark Urda are leading the charge to keep Farid off the ballot. Guess if you don’t follow their lead you are toast as a black candidate in Naperville. Sickening. So much for DEI!

On another bright note, Illinois and the corrupt Democratic machine lead by the likes of Madigan and Pritzker are sinking into further irrelevance. Good riddance.

  2. Mark Urda

I suggest that you attend the November 13th 1:30 pm hearing in City Council Chambers to hear the facts in these objections before you offer more baseless claims about the actual reason for these objections.

    • Peace Over Hate

I read your stupid complaint. It’s complete bs. You and your buddies are a bunch of racists. Let Farid have chance. You old white bullies had your turn.

    • Sam Nelson

Urda, put your facts on here. What are you waiting for?

    • Farid Shabazz

Should someone have challenged you because you use Mark Urd, , not Mark C Urda or Mark V Urda?
You were allowed to experience what every citizen wished to experience, and that’s to be part of an great American experience. Why try to block me?

      • Sam Nelson

Great questions Farid! You should be able to run, but unfortunately, you have apparently run into Kim White. You see, Kim White is part of the Naperville cool crowd. She challenges everyone she thinks doesn’t support her grifter husband, Benny White. All the rich, liberal white ladies in Naperville want to be part of this cool crowd and if you aren’t in it then you are the enemy. Keep up the good fight ! I hope you win and don’t let Kim White try and intimidate you. Just remember though, you probably won’t be invited to “Dancing With the Stars!”

You can use any name you want on your candidate petition so long as it is legally your name. But once you choose a name to use on your petition, the laws require you to use this name constantly on all documents related to your petition to be listed as a candidate on the ballot.

This is for a very simple reason: the name that appears on your petition is the name that is required to be put on the ballot. If you have some documents with one name and other documents with a different name, then by the election laws you are filing two different candidate petitions under two different names, which creates several problems.

I can see how some might think this is a trivial issue, but with all the concerns these days around election integrity, it is actually a very serious matter. Under the election regulations, the registered voters signing your petition are not only agreeing to accept you as a candidate but also approving the name you will be campaigning under and will be using on the ballot. For the city cleric or election board to unilaterally decide that these registered voters would be okay with making changes to these petitions after they have signed them, without their consent, is undeniably an election integrity issue.

This is why all the documents provided to candidates in the candidate packets they get from the city clerk’s office directs them to the state election board’s resources on what and how to file a candidates’ petition for those not familiar or experienced with this process. The state website advises candidates to seek legal assistance to make sure they are doing things right. The candidates make all the decisions for their candidacy and if they get it wrong it falls completely on them. Attempting to trivialize any mistake made is simply making another mistake.

Jim- we do not have a City Cleric. That would violate the principle of separation of Church and State. We have a City Clerk. Accuracy matters.

          • Jim Haselhorst

You did notice that it was spelled correctly in all but one place, yet you choose to marginalize my entire post base on this one misspelling. Thanks for showing your true colors.

As to accuracy counting, this is especially on a candidate petition were a “spelling error” can create two or more candidate petitions being filed instead of one.

  3. Sam Nelson

Maybe Farid didn’t pay his property taxes?

  4. Sam Nelson

what’s worse? A candidate who benefits himself to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars by abusing a tax incentive intended for wounded combat veterans? Or a candidate that forgot to number his petition pages or forgot his middle name on their ballot?

Of course any reasonable person knows the answer to that question, unless you are a butt hurt Democrat like yourself, Dianne McGuire, or Nancy Turner.

    • Joan Murray

Which candidate abused a tax incentive for veterans ?

  5. Mark Urda

Please come to the hearing and hopefully you as a reasonable person can come to understand both the substance of the objections and the importance of the compliance to the election law. Unless of course you want to spend your time name calling instead of understanding.

    • Sam Nelson

Speaking of compliance of the law, what about compliance with the spirit of the law?

  6. Pat Berg

Local republicans getting nervous about another Benny win. Good work Mark Urda and company.

    • Sam Nelson

Nervous? Heck no! I think it’s hilarious they are trying to throw another black man off the ballot!

      • Mark Urda

I suggest that you either attend the hearing or at least completely review the objection. There is more to it than a missing middle name on some petitions. Having said that it is important that voters no exactly who they are voting for and are able to research the candidates. For example, if some petitions say Joe Smith, others Joseph Smith and yet others Joseph A. Smith while no an intent to mislead but certainly confusing as to actual identity. The hearing will determine if spirit or letter of the law applies to this case.

    • Joan Murray

We will probably find out that coyne is funding this candidate too, just how he fully funded a black candidate to take votes away from Benny last time.

  7. Sam Nelson

Has anyone checked on Ron Davidson since Trump won? He might have had a stroke.

    • Sam Nelson

Or how is Susan Crotty and her husband doing now? They have probably stroked out too!

  8. Joan Murray

If candidates can’t follow the rules then they shouting be allowed to run. All other candidates have no problems following the rules. Why have any rules then?

    • Charles Knutson

You sound just like Mike Madigan, oops he’s another IL Democrat about to me convicted.

    • Joan Murray

Chuck why do you support not following the rules? It’s not like this is high school student council. Naperville is the 4th largest city in the state. If candidates can’t fill out the forms properly, that’s on them. Plenty of resources to help them. It’s a good litmus test.

      • Charles Knutson

I do support following the rules. What I don’t get is why IL Democrats can’t? They lie, cheat and steal constantly but people like you keep electing them. What is wrong with you? You would think after Madigan going down there would be some soul searching among you IL Democrats but nope, not a word. It’s business as usual, win at all cost. Who cares how many Democrats go to jail.

        • Joan murray

If you support following the rules then you’ll support the objection to these candidates. Thank you for supporting this

Never interfere with your enemy when he is making a mistake. Napoleon Bonaparte

If the Progs want to tear themselves apart, we should not intervene, for their fall from grace only makes our community a better place. Familiar how they draw their internecine knives when in full on tantrum mode, stinging rebukes and landslides crushing their agendas have made this the beginning of a most joyous holiday season!

Let’s all enjoy this grand display of genuine Proggy thought and deed, the hyenas can’t wait to tear each other apart.

  10. Sam Nelson

What your Democratic “leaders” in IL have wrought. Below is from Paul Vallas

Illinois is reeling. State ranks first in tax burden, near last in job growth, last in equity. After spending most of $54 billion in COVID money it received and despite raising taxes during COVID, state, city, schools and CTA face massive deficits. Expect more taxes to come.

•State facing $3 billion deficit next year.

•Chicago facing almost $1 billion deficit this year

•Chicago Public Schools facing almost $1 billion deficit next year

    •CTA facing $567 million deficit

Don’t expect change. No one in Illinois has the right to lecture anyone about Democracy. Not with the most gerrymandered legislative maps in the country virtually guaranteeing Democrats Supermajorities despite Trump getting 47% of the vote.

Meanwhile, Pritzker does a bad impersonation of Dirty Harry in his warning to Trump. “You come for my people, you come through me,” says Pritzker. I guess it’s Who needs the federal government when you can just raise taxes even more to cover for a collective financial incompetency.

  11. Naperville Against Hate

Naperville stop tolerating hate! Demand African Americans have access to the ballot! Tell Urda, McGuire, and Turner to take their privilege somewhere else and buzz off! Sign the petition!

  12. Brian Hansen

Nag doesn’t know when the election is he’s running for. He has the incorrect election dates, plus he doesn’t have enough signatures and looks like some signature may not even live in Naperville.

Farid Shabazz changed his name last year which he tried to hide and his name used to be David Hughes. You have to legally disclose this. That alone is disqualifying.
