Our second Naperville city council campaign kickoff is in the books as Jennifer Taylor held what appeared to be a very successful campaign launch last night at Quigleys in Naperville.
Packets are coming out at the end of the month so candidates are now pressured to get started early. Why Springfield started the cycle early is a mystery. It’s doubtful either candidates or the public want more campaigning, more signs, more drama for a longer period of time. Nonetheless Illinois did this any way. Springfield leadership can’t get enough politics whether the public wants more or not.
All that notwithstanding, Taylor had what looked like a very successful start. She posted photos of the event and her speech online. Her speech was good and focused on public safety, lower taxes, smart development and bipartisanship. Former District 203 President, Dr. Mary Ann Bobowsky delivered opening comments.
Her sponsor list was solid and included stakeholders ranging from a trade union, local businesses, and a number of individual donors. Attendees included a number of familiar local politicos including Mayor Wehrli, former Mayor Chirico, and former councilmen Gustin, Coyne, Senger, and Kenn Miller.
All and all a solid campaign start for a solid councilwoman. Odds appear high we will have Taylor for another term. A good result for Naperville.
Springfield has clearly done this in fear of the efficiency of their vote manipulation abilities to handle the massive influx of honest votes this year. Governor Pugsly and his Slave Galley of Progressive Lickspittles want to make sure they have all the time needed to insure the results represent the will of their own corrupt souls. Numbing us with endless signage, public grandstanding, impolite droning and campaign stumpery. Great, another hat in the ring… let the games begin.
